Crunch Pod is proud to present the debut release “60Hz Hymns” by define.human
Reflecting define.human's criticality of humanity's relationship with comfort driven tendencies, ‘60Hz Hymns’ is an experiment in re-appropriating the frequencies produced by mechanisms of assuage. Pushing the boundaries between music and noise, ‘60Hz Hymns’ boasts a variety of tracks that feature heavy bass lines, discomforting melodies, and enticing frequencies. These sounds are woven together to reflect the album's concept as a subversive investigation into the self-destructive, comfort-seeking phenomena of religion and consumerism. The album's conceit is realized through its 60Hz motif via accents that are reminiscent of religious hymns, kitchen appliances, and everything in between. Inspired by a personal rejection of the contradiction between religiosity's self-oppressive nature and its contemporary indulgence in commercialism, the album is an attempt to undermine the listener's expectation of comfort while leaving their curiosity and need for pleasure intact.
